World’s largest compressed air grid “batteries” will store up to 10GWh

California will host two new compressed-air energy storage facilities, each aiming to be the world’s largest non-hydro energy storage system.
These facilities developed by us will each offer 500 MW of power and can store 4 GWh of energy.
Using advanced compressed air energy storage (A-CAES) technology, these plants enhance efficiency by capturing and reusing heat generated during compression, with an expected efficiency of about 60%.
Scheduled to begin operations in 2026, they promise significant longevity and cost-effectiveness compared to lithium-based systems, especially as storage capacity increases.
