We have selected Kiewit Engineering Group to advance studies for the Willow Rock Energy Storage Center, California’s largest standalone energy storage project.
Using Advanced Compressed Air Energy Storage (A-CAES) technology, it offers affordable, large-scale, emissions-free storage, powering 400,000 homes for 8 hours.
The project has a lifespan of over 50 years, emits no toxins, and supports grid stability.
Goldman Sachs Asset Management committed $250 million, reflecting the demand for long-duration energy storage.
The California Energy Commission aims to procure 1,000 MW of such storage by 2026-2028.
