Broken Hill renewable microgrid revived after Transgrid finds a way to dump diesel
26 May, 2022
Transgrid is reviving plans for a renewable microgrid in Broken Hill, leveraging our 200MW compressed air storage technology.
Originally sidelined due to regulatory constraints favoring diesel generators, the project has been reconsidered with anticipated support from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency.
If approved, it will integrate with existing wind and solar assets, maximizing renewables output and bolstering local grid resilience.
Our CEO, Curtis VanWalleghem highlights the innovative A-CAES solution’s alignment with NSW’s clean energy goals.
Transgrid views the project as a long-term consumer benefit, anticipating job creation and a pioneering renewable mini-grid.
