We recently completed the world’s first fuel-free commercial Advanced Compressed Air Energy Storage (A-CAES) facility in Goderich, Ontario, Canada with NRStor Inc.
This achievement signifies a significant advancement in long-duration energy storage. The facility boasts a peak power output of 1.75 MW, a 2.2-MW charge rating, and over 10 MWh of storage capacity.
It will be used by Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator for peaking capacity, ancillary services, and participation in the energy market to bolster grid reliability.
Funding from Sustainable Development Technology Canada and the Ontario government supported this project, which paves the way for Hydrostor’s expansion into various global markets.
CEO Curtis VanWallenghem emphasized the facility’s importance as a proof point for A-CAES technology worldwide.
