We’re excited to announce the transformation of a disused Australian cavern into one of the world’s largest compressed air energy storage facilities.
Our team at Hydrostor, in collaboration with Australian miner Perilya, will convert this cavern into the Silver City Energy Storage Project.
It will provide 200MW of energy for over eight hours to the remote mining city of Broken Hill in New South Wales, using our Advanced Compressed Air Energy Storage (A-CAES) system.
By harnessing off-peak or surplus energy, we’ll eliminate the need for new transmission lines and reduce reliance on diesel generators.
With funding from the Australian government and support from partners like Goldman Sachs, we’re confident that this project will pave the way for sustainable energy solutions.
