Description

Hydrostor (hydrostor.ca) is a global leader in Advanced Compressed Air Energy Storage (A-CAES) and the high growth energy storage sector. It is on the cusp of a significant expansion, both domestically and internationally. It presently has operations in Canada, and expects significant expansion into the US and Australia in the coming months, with further expansion internationally as a number of new projects come on line and are developed. It has a young and dynamic team. This position will report to the Chief Operations Officer.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead all underground aspects of Hydrostor’s engineering work.
  • Support the planning, scheduling, and direction of long term projects, including mine design for both greenfield and brownfield sites (including existing mine conversions.)
  • Develop and manage the internal mine team (3+) and contractor teams to facilitate all underground aspects of the energy storage projects such as design, budget, scheduling, environmental, hydrology, etc.
  • Work with overall engineering team to support system modelling, costings, scheduling, etc.
  • Manage geology expertise for technical due diligence with respect to geo-tech site screening, project locations with different rock types, existing rock types, etc.
  • Working in different areas globally determining costs, permitting structures, etc.
  • Commercialize new technologies.
  • Offer well constructed design options based on alternate mine scenarios.
Qualifications:
  • BS or MS degree in Mining/Geological/Civil Engineering.
  • 10+ years of solid experience in a Sr. role focused on ALL aspects of mine development, construction, and operations.
  • Excellent working knowledge of mining activities, processes, and methods.
  • Multiple successfully completed mines or large mining projects an asset.
  • Creativity and experience and an interest to work within a small growth company.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office, CAD, MATLAB etc.
  • Ability to identify work priorities and function with very little supervision.
  • Strong desire to be a part of a start-up/high growth company with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • High functioning in a fast-paced, results-oriented culture while working on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Building and mentoring a division.
