Broken Hill compressed-air energy storage facility to inject $457m into economy, company says
10 Jul, 2021
Our planned advanced compressed-air energy storage (A-CAES) facility in Broken Hill is projected to inject $457 million into the town over 40 years, according to a recent study.
The project will require hundreds of workers during its three-year construction phase, dropping to about 70 full-time workers annually thereafter.
The facility aims to improve energy reliability in Broken Hill, which faced a major power outage years ago.
Our Greg Allen, director, believes the project will support new renewable energy ventures in the area and enable other mining projects to advance.
The company is confident in the project’s viability, having invested heavily and received grant funding under the NSW government’s emerging energy program.
